Screw your neighbor is a great game to start the night off with a bang, the rounds are quick and your know what that means, you get drunk! 😉
Table of Contents
The aim of the game is to have the lowest card at the end of the round. In Screw Your Neighbor ace’s are the lowest and kings are the highest. Although this game is simple, it is a lot of fun.
Requirements to play
- You will need a minimum of 3 players, but the more the better!
- A standard 52-card deck of playing cards
- Drinks of your choice
If you love card-drinking games but don’t fit the requirements, a great game with minimal requirements is Spoons Drinking Game, thank me later 🙂
Rules and set up of Screw Your Neighbor
Rules:
- You cannot look at your card until it is your turn
- Drink (forfeit) must be drunk straight after each round has been played
Set up:
To start the game we must decide who is the dealer. We do this by each player picking a card from the top of the shuffled pack of playing cards and the player with the highest card is the dealer. (if players have the same highest card they go into a duel. This is when players split the pack, and the same rules apply and the highest card becomes the dealer).
The dealer has now been chosen and must reshuffle so the game can begin.
The dealer then gives 1 card to each of the players, not including themself. (don’t worry as the game goes on the role of the dealer is passed to the left after each round)

How To Play Screw Your Neighbor
Before each round is played, players choose the forfeit. An example of a forfeit would be a shot of a chosen drink, shotgun a can, or you can all get creative and make a concoction of mixed drinks.
Once a card has been dealt to every player in a clockwise fashion from the dealer. The player to the dealer’s left can look at their card. Remember the aim of the game is to have the lowest card. So the player looks at their card and can either decide to keep it or swap with the player to their left. The player to their left has no choice but to swap with them. This then goes around the table until everyone has had the opportunity to either keep their card or screw their neighbor and swap.
At the end of the round, everyone shows the card and the highest card has to do the forfeit drink.
When it is a player’s turn and they look at their card and see a king, they must turn it face up. They’re not allowed to swap it with the player on the left. If two kings are present at the table both players must do the forfeit, but then also go into a duel. (duel is explained above in the “set up” section) The loser of the duel then has to do the same forfeit again.
